An earthy pub with a very ‘British’ atmosphere. Apparently it is one of the oldest pubs in the town - easily believable when you see the décor. Good for a winter’s day pint in front of a log fire but can be pretty cliquey otherwise. You’ll have difficulty getting served if there are locals at the bar, even if they arrive after you. Staff are generally friendly and there are some good locally-brewed ales on offer most of the time.
