The Cross Keys epitomises everything which is bad about the British accommodation industry. The rooms were filthy - we found dried blood on our pillows and a leaking toilet in the bathroom during our visit - and the staff distinctly unfriendly and unhelpful. Located above a rough and ready pub and at £50 a night, The Cross Keys is a travesty of a hotel and should be avoided at all costs. If youre desperate, sleep in your car (or in a bush) rather than stay here. Also, the hotels website said there was parking - we were told on arrival there wasnt and were directed to a remote pay and display car park 1.5 miles away and expected to walk back with our luggage. Dire beyond belief.
