The slightly dreary and worn out feel of Boulogne is not the obvious choice of location for a Michelin-starred restaurant, but taking pride of place along the Boulevard Sainte Beuve is La Matelote. The dιcor inside takes you back to an era gone buy which gaudy drapes and curtains and busy accompaniments of lampshades and flowers - slightly incongruous during the day, but at night a time-warp experience. The food and service is stunning with a varied and unusual menu which would stretch almost any palette. Well deserving of its Michelin rating and prices match the experience. A real treat and worth every penny.
