A quintessentially English Hotel and restaurant located in the green and glorious heart of the New Forest. To some the Montagu Arms could be seen as slightly stuffy and old fashioned, while others will find it the perfect hideout to escape the rigours of city life. Staff are formal and efficient and all rooms are furnished to a high and comfortable standard. The hotel is remote, apart from a tiny village without a pub, and the quaintness continues with New Forest donkeys greeting you at the hotel entrance at all times of the day. The hotel offers two places to eat; the formal and painfully quiet Terrace Restaurant, which offers excellent food and wine in a sombre atmosphere, and relaxed and relatively lively Montys Brasserie and Bar. Here you can enjoy more simple offerings but in a more digestible atmosphere. Great for a fairly expensive weekend escape if all you want to do is soak up the fresh and area and walk the beautiful New Forest scenery. The hotel as an official AA three red stars rating.
