An excellent family-run Chinese restaurant, although unfortunately a bit of a walk out of the town centre.
The food is cooked very professionally and the kitchen takes an extra effort with presentation, rising above the level of a normal provincial Chinese restaurant.
The staff are extremely friendly and you will often get two generations of the family working the room.
The restaurant is slightly let down by its location in a residential street, and the buildings around the restaurant sometimes suffer from graffiti and vandalism problems.
Putting this aside, if you don’t mind the walk, then the Szechuan Inn really is worth a visit. It is also the only sit-down Chinese restaurant in the Wokingham town centre area. Good traditional Chinese food, good value.

Chinese restaurant with a slightly awkward location 15 minutes' walk out of town.
Its roominess can work against it, since it's literally one big room: this makes it feel alarmingly empty at quiet times and chaotic when full.
The family who run the Szechuan Inn are friendly and welcoming. Food is generous and not overpriced, but I found it somewhat average. Not worth a special trip if you don't live on that side of town.

"This is probably my favourite restaurant. For food, value for money (c £100 for 2 or 3 inc drinks as compared to £500+ for 2 in a 2 star in Paris. And I know it sounds a bit lovey darling, but at that price I thought the lobster wouldn't be tough). The service is friendly, welcoming and efficient. Do not worry that it is in a residential street. That is part of its unassuming charm. It has been there for more than 20 years. It must be doing something right. Give it a try. "

"This is a very nice restaurant and has round tables which is great if there is a large number of you (more sociable). Food is tasty and reasonably priced. You can park right outside so it is worth a visit."
