A rather run of the mill Indian restaurant in Denmark street which is either bijous or cramped, depending on your point of view.

The menu offers the standard fare, the dishes are on the mean side and there is little warmth in the service - everything is simply very standard.

The Taj Mahal is reasonably priced - almost cheap - but then, as is so often the case, you get what you pay for, and this venue is no exception.

To sum up, the Taj Mahal serves edible food but has very little else to commend it.

"I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. It has a nice atmosphere and the food is mostly good. However, I got food poisoning here on one occasion and a friend got food poisoning here on a separate occasion. It can also be difficult to get in if you haven't booked. There are better Indians in town."

"
This is the best Indian restaurant around. We have recently moved to the West Midlands and cannot find anywhere as good as the Taj. Staff are well trained and food is excellent. Cannot understand comments about undersized portions, I always ask for a small portion because I find there portions are too big. Well done, keep up the good work. We have been using the Taj for about 4 years."

"
Taj Mahal is our favourite Indian Restaurant. We love the food here and the service is really friendly and polite. It's inexpensive too which is always a bonus. Try the Keema Peas - my favourite."

"
Quite simply, the best curry house in the town. The food is absolutely superb, and the choice is immense. The owner goes to great lengths to ensure customer satisfaction. Having visited this particular establishment close to 100 times, I feel that I am in a strong position to provide an opinion."

"
Don't take any notice of the review from April 2009!  This restaurant serves a large varied selection of excellent high quality food at very reasonable prices. I can't imagine how anyone could describe the portion sizes as mean - they are plentiful and on the odd occasion too large if anything. The restaurant is on the small side but the closeness of fellow diners enhances the atmosphere. In addition we have always found the service to be very welcoming and friendly. Many fellow customers are regulars and we rarely go there without seeing someone we've seen there before which is a testament to the overall value for money and quality of service. I have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to anyone who likes traditional Indian food."

"
Best Indian for takeaway, great prices and really good food. The chicken Balti is a must for any curry lovers and you even got free popadoms."

"
This is our favourite Indian restaurant in Wokingham. A more traditional restaurant rather than the more modern places. Great quality food - just try any of the Tikka dishes. Friendly service, recommended."

"
We have been to this Indian restaurant several times now where the service has been excellent, and the food has been of good quality with a good choice on the menu. Lamb rogan josh is my favourite, and prices are better than other local competitive restaurants. On several occasions we have been offered a complementary drink at end of the meal, and a rose for the ladies."
