This spacious pub/restaurant is understandably popular. It offers a varied menu, albeit of standard dishes, which are cooked well, if a little overpriced, in a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. The staff have a degree of professionalism which is not often seen in pubs and they will always go that extra mile to cater for your needs. There is a spacious garden, although annoyingly the seats are bolted to the floor so when you’re sat around a table you feel about six feet away from everyone. One drawback is that because of its popularity you often have to wait a while for your food. There is a good, mixed clientele and the pub is popular with families, especially during the summer months.

"Very well kept beer and a big garden are the attractions here. Food is not great very much prepackaged type of fare. The pub has no atmpsphere and is very sterile. The staff are friendly but do not engage much in conversation. They need to attend to the little details a bit more like tidying up dirty tables more quickly and tidying all the rubbish in the garden. As I walk through the garden twice a day walking to and from work you notice things like an empty pack of rizla under a bench table that didn't get cleared for a week and that was probably by a gust of wind. All that said is still the best kept beer in Wokingham."

"
I disagree with the comments; the official review is closer to the truth. A nice pub with some genuine old features. It lost a smidgen of atmosphere during its redocoration a couple of years ago, but is still well worth a visit. Yes, it's a chain, but apart from recognising things on the menu it doesn't feel like a chain pub. The aforementioned menu is good and has something to suit everyone. Often varies the beers it has on tap."

"
Service here is dreadful. The waiting staff consists of sulkly teenage girls seemingly unable to see or hear customers. Last night we waited an average of 25 minutes for a drink, the food, cutlery, the bill. Finally we paid at the bar as we'd lost patience and there we had to wait again - this time behind someone complaining about the shoddy service too. One to avoid."

"
Service very good, food tries to be different but sometimes fails. I think it depends which chef is working. Roasted peppers with everything! That said we go back as the staff are friendly, traditional pub fare good, prices reasonable and we can walk there. Changes hands quite often so always good to give it another go if you have a bad visit."
