"I’ve visited this place about five times now and each experience as been less and less impressive. The design of the restaurant is great but the food and service just fail to match the interior. On our last visit we felt hurried and rather disappointed in the food, which was effectively pub grub, the ribs we had tasted as if it had just come from the microwave. The pizza was dry and the starters of whitebait and prawns were very plain and devoid of flavour. This place is really not worth the money."

"
The food was very good, unfortunately everything else was not to my taste. The service felt "by the book" everyone was correct, but divorced of personality, this theme of sterility is mirrored in the decor, which tries to be stylish, yet is mainstream and vanilla, it all felt a bit half hearted. The menu was poorly done, I had to ask the staff to indicate which meals were suitable for vegetarians and a surprising number that on the surface might have been were not mentioned. It was too hot for me. The noise level was silly, they could not hear us we could not hear them. This place would be great if it was run by a person rather than a corporation, had better menu information and had decor that could improve the sound levels and introduce a personality."

"
In the restaurant now as we write this review. Four of us have tried mixed starters and a combination of main courses. We are sat by the oven and what we have seen is excellent. The restaurant was very busy on a Saturday night. But they managed to fit us in. The food really is excellent, we hail from Norwich and wish we could get food of this callibre, rather than run of the mill high street rubbish. Thanks immo, it has been a great experience. The game has been upped, try the place for yourselves guys. If they can get it right on a Saturday they can get it right anytime."

Went to iMMO with five friends at the weekend and was thoroughly impressed with the whole experience. The food is not exactly Michelin standard, but if you want a relaxed night out in pleasant surroundings with friendly, unhurried service then I would definitely recommend this place. Did the job perfectly for us and we came away very happy."

"
Loved the food, loved the staff, loved the atmosphere - what more can I say. I think the other reviews were obviously in the wrong restaurant. Kids love it there because of the banter with the waiters. Fabulous experience every time we go."

"
Food is ok, decor is nice and the booths are fab.
No tiramisu or cafe real for dessert - this is supposed to be an Italian? come on guys....
Best thing about it is when you get the bill...it comes in its "iMMO" labelled jacket. If it is upside down, it spells "oww!"
Well, anyway, it makes me laugh every time. Hey ho. Go there, it’s good and reasonably priced for what it is.

We had a table of eight on Saturday evening. When we arrived the place was probably at 25% capacity but it quickly filled. The menu was the typical chain Italian restaurant type. Starters were average but nothing special, likewise the main course Pizzas. The drinks menu was over priced. The smallest glass of wine was 250ml (so 1/3 of a bottle!) at £4.50. This is no good for drivers at all - more than one glass. There was only ONE beer (Italian) at £3 a 330ml bottle (so a half pint!)
Our waiter gave basic service, and while seemingly authentic in being Italian, was rather surly and not friendly. The service was on the slow side of average.
Overall: a nice location, but there are much better places. Food very average and the place is way too expensive for what it is. The service can make or break a place and it broke this one. Don't bother with iMMO.

Food was fine, but overpriced for Italian pasta dishes. Also, if taking your family, they didn't do a specific children’s menu, which caused us a problem, as our 6 yr old would never manage an adult portion, so a bit expensive for kiddies."

"
This is my favourite restaurant - they even have a take away service. My experience was somewhat different from the reviewer provided. I found the staff very friendly and efficient. I'm always recommending it to my friends."

"I had read some reviews that were either fantastically awful or fantastically great. I am pleased to say that my visit fits into the latter category. My friends and I were seated in the back room, a little too close to the kitchen for my liking, a little noisy and quite warm but we did get to see the chefs working the wood oven. I forgot about the noise and the heat though when my food arrived. It was amazing!! I have recently come back from France and iMMO rivaled anything I had eaten out there! The sauce on my chicken was fantastic and my friends all agreed that their food was to a very high standard. What was even more pleasant was the price! My chicken dish was one of the cheapest things on the menu and was absolutely delicious! I would defiantly recommend!"

"After reading some of the reviews I approached my visit to iMMO somewhat nervously, but perhaps the staff had read them as well. Our group of 10 had a good meal in a pleasant atmosphere, mercifully free from music, with helpful and attentive (but not over-attentive) staff. My only quibble was that the Pinot Grigio was rather wishy-washy, but it improved with food, and the house red (Montepulciano) was excellent. Our group covered a wide range of starters and main courses, all of which seemed to be enjoyed. When one member was unable to finish a large helping of asparagus pasta, and requested a doggy bag, the leftovers were promptly returned in a neat take-away box. We were not really able to do justice to the dessert menu, but the sticky toffee pudding and crunchy honeycomb cheesecake both went down well. I think we would all be happy to pay a return visit."

"Only one waiter per 40 diners!  Service was non existent and dinner, when it finally arrived after waiting an hour was cold.  They then re-heated it in a microwave in plain sight of us and re-served it, yuk
.
This was my second visit and it will be my last.  Unless they employ more staff, it won't be here in 12 months."

"Having read some of these comments after we'd booked the table we almost cancelled - but I'm so glad we didn't. Food was wonderful and service was very good. All the staff we dealt with spoke English and had no trouble understanding us. Unlike Prezzo (which we also like very much) it was much quieter which suited us as we had gone for an anniversary dinner. That said in the room next door there was a large group enjoying a meal but the sound didn't seem to carry like it does in a larger venue.
My only complaint was that I didn't have room for any of the desserts. Still that gives us an excuse to go there again. We would definitely recommend and will be paying a return visit shortly.

I took a party of 13 to Immo having been there previously myself. It was superb. The food delighted everyone, the staff were friendly and attentive and I thought the prices were reasonable. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone."

"
First impression was that the interior was a little soulless and cold. It could use a little mood lighting and some background music.
The Food. For starters, we chose a garlic bread pizza with caramelised onions, calamari, mushrooms with goats cheese and pancetta, and followed with the ribeye steak and calzone pizza for mains.
The calamari tasted like rubber bands cooked in month old chip fat. Seriously. I felt nauseous from the first mouthful. My calzone pizza was bland, tasteless and dry and deflated like a balloon when I cut into it. My wife’s mushroom starter was barely OK, her steak was swimming in a peppercorn sauce and her vegetables (broccoli) were more stalk than flower.  We decided not to stay for dessert.
This was probably the worst meal we’ve ever eaten and dammit, we’ve eaten some poor food in our epicurean past (raw sea-urchin or mechanically separated chicken anyone?). The above, combined with rapid-fire service from our eastern-European waitress (‘You want desert menu, yes?’) made this meal memorable for all the wrong reasons.
Come on guys, this was just awful. As part of the Prezzo chain, I would have expected much better, so it’s two thumbs down I’m afraid (or four including my good wife’s two) and ne’er shall we return. I’m beginning to wish that Wokingham Council had actually left the building as a library. The books would have tasted better I think.

Obviously a lot of money spent on the refurbishment of this building but food was below average and overpriced for a very basic Italian restaurant. My gratinated potatoes were brown and looked like they had been cooked the day before and a pasta dish was very dry and not fresh but the shocker was when we spotted a large amount of fluffy mould on the chillies in the chilli oil - pointed this out to the waitress and got an apology but nothing else!! Come on - this is not a difficult menu to get right. I know this restaurant has only been open for a few weeks but should have got its act together by now - so many Italian restaurants in Wokingham it has to be very good to last. We definitely won't be going again."

"Nice restaurant but isn't it time Wokingham had a bit more variety? Don't know about anyone else, but I'm getting a bit sick of pizza and pasta. What about a little French bistro, or something of that nature?"

"Really enjoyed our work's party here, deserves praise for really good food at reasonable prices."

Prezzo Broad Street review
Prezzo Denmark Street review

IMMO, the newest addition to Wokingham’s burgeoning restaurant arena, sells itself as offering pizza and pasta at a level slightly above the ever popular Prezzo - its sister restaurant in Denmark Street.
Set in Montague House in Broad Street, the interior has been sympathetically converted by the architects to create a series of smaller eating areas which give the diner the impression that they are sat in someone’s front room. iMMO scores highly for the ambience it has created - not overlit and tables set far enough apart to allow for private conversation while still maintaining a healthy buzz conducive to a fun night out.
It all starts to go a little bit wrong when it comes to food and service. The staff seemed stressed, probably partly down to the fact that they struggled to understand orders placed in English. A simple drinks order was confused three times and there was a distinct lack of grace shown each time this had to be pointed out.
Food-wise, there appeared to be no discernable difference between the standard here and at Prezzo. Although in itself not too expensive, some of the starters on offer at iMMO even fell short of what’s on offer at Denmark Street’s cheaper alternative.
While Wokingham’s appetite for pizza and pasta seems insatiable at present, venues like this should not assume the trade is going to roll in forever without them having to put in any effort.
iMMO needs to up its game considerably to be classed as anything out of the absolute ordinary.
In summary, food-wise iMMO was distinctly underwhelming, not because the food was necessarily that bad, but because it is trying to present itself as something greater than this.
