"We don't sell anymore meat
or fish unless the customer orders them in advance. We do use the same butcher and fishmonger as the previous owner so the quality and freshness of any articles are well guaranteed.
In addition, we have a large variety of the best English cheeses including the local Barkham Blue and Barkham Chase, together with the finest Italian cheeses all 100% certified and from well known small producers.
We have a large amount of tapenade and spreadable offerings, which are all home made with the finest ingredients.
You can now find the finest Italian wines from almost every Italian region, and although not cheap they are of extremely good quality.
We have wall to wall confectionery including hand made pasta and known sauces.
We do a lot of outside catering and we have customers such as Laithwaits and a Polo club.
We sell and make our own ice cream together with a well know Alba Gold ice cream.
We have pastries which become very popular sold by weight.
We bake our own bread on a daily basis, ciabatta, sour dough and multi grain in a box.
And finally we serve light lunches all day long and weather permitting we have four tables outside where people can enjoy a glass of Prosecco or wine, to a tea or coffee, or a quick lunch or a sandwich."

Wysipig
Natural feed and natural surroundings are promised when it comes to rearing the pigs used for the sausages and pork sold by Wysipig in Arborfield. The breakfast sausages are excellent, if a little difficult to cook due to crumbling, and certainly beat anything bought from a supermarket. However, while good, the bacon was unexceptional but coming from a such a good local source would be worth choosing. The meat is relatively expensive but worth paying the extra to encourage local producers.
The shop is open 10am to 4pm, Wednesday to Saturday. The website offers directions and a comprehensive pricing list, together with information about how the pigs are reared.
